PKMNC - Meet Felix the Caterpie

INFO: The interesting thing about this encounter is Bæset didn’t find Felix, Felix found Bæset! Keen eyes and/or fellow role-players may have noticed this naughty little Bug-type as early as the Medieval Festival of 2012 and even making a cameo in a picture or two (albeit with slightly different colors).

A Rough Beginning
Felix’s life was definitely a hard one. He, like his few surviving siblings, was a very late spring hatchling. Born so late, this made it much more difficult to find food, hide from predators and even keep cool from the harsh summer heat. Even with the half skorupi blood flowing through the late hatchlings’ bodies, most of the siblings did not survive. Felix was one of the last four who had the determination, strength, aggressiveness and stubbornness of a skorupi to forge on and endure. He ended up growing much faster than his remaining brother and sisters, but also became more hostile overtime. This led the other caterpies and even his own butterfree mother to eventually let him go off on his own. They just couldn’t compete with him and no longer wished to deal with his naughty nature.

A Destined Encounter
While trying to find some unpainted flowers to munch on, Felix wound up being knocked from his perch by Bæset, who was attempting to destroy all the white roses at that time (for the good of her team!). Felix was angry and wanted to get even with this reckless purrloin who disturbed him, so he began to chase after her. Since all he could do was crawl however, he couldn’t catch up to the swifter Bæset and her flying volcarona. Despite this fact, he was very persistent and stubborn and managed to follow her to her house, but it seemed that every time he tried to get inside or confront her outside, the little caterpie was always knocked, bumped, flipped, or blown away by something. Still, he pushed on.

As the days turned to weeks and weeks turned to months, all that time of constantly watching, observing and stalking Bæset, Felix noticed how she treated her volcarona and the pets of other residents. He couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to have an owner like that too. Even though Felix was furious for what she did to his flower, there seemed to be other feelings mixed in as well. The little caterpie had been alone for some time and he subconsciously longed for a mother figure in his life. Perhaps this purrloin could give that to him.

One day, the caterpie finally found Bæset sitting alone on a hillside in Pokette with no one else around to bother either of them. He snuck up to her and managed to get her attention by crawling through the hole in her tail (which she seemed to hate, but Felix found her reaction funny). After she tossed him away a few times and tried to escape, the caterpie finally put his foot down and used String Shot to keep the purrloin from leaving again. She finally seemed to get the hint and decided to take him home.

EXTRA QUIRKS: - Unlike other caterpies, Felix has blue eyes and “eyespots” on his body. All traits inherited from his skorupi father.
- Felix truly believes he’s more skorupi than caterpie and will try to “sting” people with his tail.
- He tends to go into a handstand position with his tail sticking out in order to make himself look threatening.
- Felix refuses to evolve, even though he’s at a high enough level to do so. He doesn’t want to become a boring immobile (Metapod) or a girly little butterfly (Butterfree), so he resists each time he’s prompted for evolution. One day, he hopes to get ahold of an Everstone so he can avoid all this hassle.
- Felix is very protective of Bæset and tends to get jealous of others who get too close to her, especially Ivan.
- Although, still mischievous, Felix is fairly calm and pleasant around female residents, but rather aggressive and antagonistic with male residents and pets of any gender. Although, there’s not much damage he can do to anyone, since he’s a little caterpie.
- His favorite type of food to eat are tea leaves and the fruit and blossoms from Cheri Berry trees.
- Felix likes to String Shot people in the face, either in anger, frustration, playfulness, or just to be naughty.
- Despite his small size, Felix is a VERY loud snorer.
- Felix communicates like any other caterpie, by saying "Catta!", "Pii!" or any combination of the two. He's also known to make noises similar to the caterpies in the anime and occasionally trying to make hissing or growling sounds (which always end up sounding funny, since they're unnatural).

OTHER INTERESTING FACTS: - Felix’s name is a homage to another caterpie by the same name in the "Electric Tail of Pikachu" manga, in which that name was an homage to Felix the Cat.
- Felix’s last name, “Belmont”, is named after the famous vampire hunting Belmonts from the Castlevania series.
- Bæset gave Felix his little collar with a bell on it so that no one would accidentally step on him. The spikes are just to make him look tough, but they’re soft plastic so no one can get hurt on them.
